Three steps, then back to work.

    Capture the detail

    Click New Snip — it sits leftmost in the editor — or pick a Delay of 3s, 5s or 10s first. Then drag to select an area, or choose Full screen for that display.

  2. 02

    Make your point

    Add an arrow, text, a numbered marker or a redaction. Marks stay adjustable while you work, with Undo and Redo in the current session.

  3. 03

    Paste and keep building

    Click Copy image, then paste it yourself into a chat that accepts images and type your request.

Snip prepares your screenshot. Your AI chat handles the conversation. Snip does not connect to an AI service, send prompts or change your code.

Which macOS versions does Snip support?
Snip requires macOS 14 or later and has an English interface.
Do I need an account?
No. Snip has no account system and no sign-in.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Capturing, annotating, Studio styling and Extract Text all happen locally on your Mac. The app has no network features, analytics or tracking.
Does Snip talk to an AI service for me?
No. Snip prepares and copies the image; you paste it into the chat you choose, which runs under its own account requirements, charges and privacy policy.
Can I edit a saved screenshot's marks later?
Saved PNGs are flattened. Separate marks and undo history exist only in the current editing session, so reopening a PNG does not restore editable annotations.
Is Snip a subscription?
No. The intended price is a single US$3 purchase, not a recurring one.
